The Sky's the Limit - Dan and Emily at the Danversport Yacht Club

Dan and Emily were married on July 27, 2013 with a ceremony and reception at the Danversport Yacht Club in Danvers, MA. Dan Sky is really Dan Gorski, but he will always be Dan Sky to me. We met a few years back at a wedding. You see, Dan is a wedding DJ. But he's more than that. He's also a singer, but not just any old singer. Dan was on the hit MTV show, Making the Band. He is a born entertainer. Actually I met him during the first year I was shooting weddings. I was doing all the table shots and thinking to myself, "Wow this DJ is playing some great standards." Think Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, etc. But when I turned around and headed towards the dance floor, it was DAN who was actually singing these songs! He wasn't just the DJ but the actual entertainment. We hit it off right away and started referring each other to our clients because we wanted to continue to work together, and we have until this very day. I only refer two DJ's on my vendor list and Dan is one of them. Dan works a lot of weddings, so you can imagine my surprise when he asked ME to shoot his wedding. I was thrilled and honored. But most of all I couldn't help but think, "I wonder who is marrying this guy? He is so filled with energy I'm not sure if anyone could keep up with him." Boy was I wrong.

Enter Emily McHale, sweet, beautiful and TOTALLY gets Dan! They met working for a Bar Mitzvah entertainment company, the kind of company that brings in entertainment to amp up the crowd, and have been together ever since. You can see the chemistry captured during their engagement shoot, and they were even more photogenic at the wedding.

I started that morning by photographing Emily getting ready and was thoroughly entertained by her bridal party. At the same time, my second shooter Vanessa headed out to the hotel with the guys and did they ham it up for her! Most fun getting ready images ever! The couple opted out of the first look, but we had fun taking some before pictures with a wall and a teaser. I love the first look, but in this case I'm kinda glad we waited because Dan's face was priceless when he first saw Emily walk down the isle. After the ceremony we headed out to the water and did a bunch of formals with the bridal party and family.

As a former dancer myself, this wedding had so many professional dancers and entertainers that I was in hog heaven! Right before the bridal party was announced Vanessa came up to me and said, "Oh boy do they have a surprise for you!" Uh oh I thought, this could be bad. Man was I wrong. Dan and the bridal party basically did a choreographed flash mob and blew me out of the water! I couldn't stop shooting and then someone took my camera and they made me actually join in! Yes, I swear. No I don't have photos, but it's true. (Well Vanessa took a few, but I looked so scary in them you can forget me posting them.) The reception was one big dance off, everyone was in top form and it was a dream for me to photograph. The music was bumpin! The crowd kept me on my toes and I just couldn't stop taking photos.

I was so thrilled and honored that Dan and Emily chose me to be their photographer because well, they know a crapload of folks in the biz, but it was me he wanted close to him and Em and boy am I glad they did!
