The Birthday Gift - Kim and Dave's Boston City Hall Elopement
Wanna know how much I dig elopements? So much that when I received an email from Kim and her fiance, Dave asking me to shoot their Boston City Hall Elopement on my birthday, my first and only response was, "I can't think of a better way to spend my birthday. I'm so there." Kim and Dave got a suite at the Boston Downtown Hyatt, which was HUGE. I loved walking in and seeing their beautiful custom cake from Oak leaf Cakes on the table in the suite. When I arrived, Kim was having her make up done by my favorite make up diva, Kerri Herlihy. She already had her hair done by Troi Young at Avanti Salon on Newbury St. After her finishing touches on her flawless look, Kim got into her dress in the bedroom, while Dave and I hung out in the living room. I was able to talk them into a first look, which we did right in the hotel suite, it was priceless.
Leaving the Hyatt, we grabbed a cab and raced against the clock to get to City Hall for their appointment. But not before I snapped a few photos smack dab in the middle of Downtown Crossing. Being full of surprises, Kim had purchased this great sign on etsy which we used outside of City Hall before going in. Then Kim and Dave said I do in a touching and intimate ceremony.
After, we headed down to Fanueil Hall to take advantage of the holiday decor that was pretty much everywhere. I have discovered that wedding portraits at Faneuil Hall always result in some sort of photo bomb moment, and these students on a school trip didn't waste any time jumping into the photo! We ended the night at Oceanaire to celebrate with oysters and cocktails. It was the perfect Boston celebration.
Photographing elopements really give me an intimate look into a couple's lives because it's just me and them. Kim and Dave included me in every second of their day, which made my birthday totally complete.
