Practice Sessions - Mitzvahs
I pride myself in becoming very invested in my Bar and Bat Mitzvah kids. The day is about them. I want kids to know that I have their back no matter what. I figured out the best way to help kids feel safe on that day is to create what I call a "practice session".
By offering practice sessions, kids have a chance to get to know me. They open up to me in ways I would have never imagined. And the best part is when I show up the day of their Mitzvah, they don't think "Oh here is that weird lady with the camera." They think, "Yes, she's here and I have nothing to worry about now". That's why their friends can come along for the ride too. Not to mention you have fun photos for a video montage and a sign in board.
