I love to explore different types of photography, and as I have mentioned before, I'm starting to return to my roots of editorial and lifestyle. I really love helping someone explore and reinvent their image, aka brand, just by simply finding out who they are, what floats their boat, and capturing that in photographs.

What is the image they are trying to share with the rest of the world? Who is their audience, and does their photo communicate with their potential client / reader /customer? My job is to make the subject feel comfortable enough with me that by the time their shoot is over, they can do ANYTHING. I love to get their creative juices flowing so that by the time I leave, I'm getting texts and phone calls from them saying they have more ideas for "the next time" we shoot. That is when I know I have done what I set out to do correctly.

This was the case with Alexis, the creator and brilliant mind behind Lexi's Clean Kitchen. She is an Instagram darling with over 65,000 followers! Yes, you read that number correctly! And she has over 27,000 on Facebook! It's amazing. An art teacher by day, Alexis decided that she just didn't feel great and thought that her eating habits could be the reason. So she started to adjust recipes and make them "cleaner". She eliminated things like dairy, wheat, refined sugars and even played around with Paleo foundations of food. She began by simply Instagramming what she was cooking and included the recipes in the comments and her follower count exploded! So she began to blog regularly and Lexi's Clean Kitchen was born.

She has appeared in countless magazines and blogs and is collaborating with companies like American Express, Udis, Self Magazine, and Young Living Essential Oils. Things are going great for her, and she wanted new photos of herself really showing this. She had just finished a remodel of her home kitchen, turning it into a naturally lit, vibrant environment—a perfect background for her new images.

Alexis is a natural in front of the camera, and I think the results speak for themselves. She really knew what she wanted but wasn't sure how to get it. So I suggested that we just play with food, shoot her working, and even get her beloved golden retriever, Jack, into a few photos. We blasted some music and spent a couple hours just playing around.

The images will appear in a relaunch for her website scheduled in a few weeks’ time. I can't wait to see what she comes up with! Oh, and of course, we are already talking about our next shoot. I think a farm would be perfect! Lexi...let's go!!
