Emily and Liam's intimate wedding at Catalyst Restaurant
Emily and Liam were married on September 4th, with an intimate ceremony and reception at Catalyst Restaurant in Cambridge, MA.
Emily and Liam are now super laid-back Brooklyn folks, but Emily actually grew up in Arlington, where I live, while Liam grew up in Duxbury, MA. They met on OKcupid and went on their first date in Brooklyn. Emily had gone on a "million online dates," but she was his first online date. "Go figure...”
They really didn't have a formal proposal (and no ring—she didn't want one). They had been talking for a while about getting married but couldn't decide whether they wanted to do it at a NYC City Hall or have a small wedding with their immediate families in Mass. So in June, they finally decided to go ahead with the small wedding idea, and luckily, the restaurant had an opening the Friday of Labor Day weekend.
Bigger is NOT always better. I say it over and over, but your wedding is about a marriage, no matter what your budget—and these two really exemplified that.
I met Emily and Liam at Em's childhood home, which really told me a lot about her. While we were there, we did some formals with her dad, sister, and brother. Then Emily, Liam and I hopped in my ultra sexy minivan and headed over to Robbins Farm Park. (Now, I know this park very well because I have kids, and they love it there. Plus, the view of the city at this park is to die for.) From there, it was off to Cambridge to Catalyst for their actual ceremony and formal dinner.
I really love intimate restaurant weddings. It really gives me a chance to get to know not only the couple, but the friends and family in a way that a big wedding just doesn't let me get to know people. Emily and Liam were so fun and open with me. Thanks, you guys. Hey, I'm gonna be in NYC next month...coffee?
